unwanted language pack updates

Mint regularly presents a list of updates for languages, most of which
I neither need nor want.

Deselect has a mind of its own and in the end
I conceed, wasting more disk space.

I see complaints on the www but no solutions.

Surely this must be a community-wide irritant?

So remove those unwanted language packages from your installation.

Bleachbit (root) will also remove them. Doesn't actually remove via apt, but just deletes
the file/folders. Make sure your language in set preferences, it purges any you don't
select there.

Synaptic (needs install if mint 22.1) will let you scan and remove language files. An
install script I have for Mint does these:

LibreOffice Help Files in diff languages:
sudo apt remove -y libreoffice-help-de libreoffice-help-es libreoffice-help-fr
libreoffice-help-it libreoffice-help-pt libreoffice-help-ru libreoffice-help-en-gb
